SF77

This was the first weapon done for Deadrop created by myself from concept to final in-game asset and went through many iterations. There was a lot of experimentation with this model trying to leverage Nanite and a mid-poly workflow. Was also the first weapon where I worked with our Lead Technical Animator Brighton Gardiner to unify how we build weapons for rigging and animation. Weapons are built to allow for heavy customization like swapping out handguards, grips, stocks, barrels, sights, etc. The concept was done under the guidance of our Art Director Darren Bacon as we were beginning to develop the futuristic 1980's aesthetic for our weapons. At this stage weapons also had some design requirements like a slot where we could place a "mod chip" that when equipped would allow players to alter weapon performance.

Within Deadrop there are several in-game factions that manufacture different variants of every "Base" weapon. For this weapon we had 3 other maker variants which I developed the look and materials for using our weapon customization material, RGB maks, and new geometry under the direction of our Art Director Darren Bacon. I then guided concept and weapon asset creation being done by our outsource partners.
